The selected images from the U.S. News & World Report collection relating to the Civil Rights movement depict Aaron Henry of the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party at the Democratic National Convention, a Black Panther convention, bombings in Alabama, school integration in Alabama and Arkansas, and Lyndon Johnson and Robert Kennedy in their role as civil rights activists.

The Civil Rights Digital Library received support from a National Leadership Grant for Libraries awarded to the University of Georgia by the Institute of Museum and Library Services for the aggregation and enhancement of partner metadata.
