Online exhibit with pictures, newspaper articles, posters, images of artifacts, political cartoons, ballots depicting the African American civil rights movement in the twentieth century, focusing on the 1950s and 1960s. Text on the site provides background to the images comprising the exhibit. One page on the site provides links to teacher resources. The exhibit contains objects from several repositories, including the Library of Congress, the Library of Virginia, the New Kent County, Virginia, School Board, the Richmond Times-Dispatch, the Valentine Richmond History Center, the Virginia Historical Society, the Virginia State University Archives and Special Collections, and the Virginia Department of Historic Resources.

The Civil Rights Digital Library received support from a National Leadership Grant for Libraries awarded to the University of Georgia by the Institute of Museum and Library Services for the aggregation and enhancement of partner metadata.
