Online course on the modern Civil Rights Movement taught by civil rights worker Dr. Bernard LaFayette, Jr. The course will shed light on the often overlooked strategic planning that supported the direction of civil rights events from the perspective of a civil rights worker intimately involved with the organization of the Civil Rights Movement. Topics will include the history of civil rights campaigns, the different coalitions and groups, philosophy and methods of nonviolent direct action, and the contemporary application of nonviolent conflict transformation. The course will also include several guest speakers, including Reverend C.T. Vivian, Henry "Hank" Thomas, Andrew Young, and Constance Curry.
