Date:1959-2007
Description:

Web site providing access to publications of the United States Commission on Civil Rights. Created as part of the 1957 Civil Rights Act, the Commission on Civil Rights has been at the forefront of efforts by the Federal Government and state governments to examine and resolve issues related to race, ethnicity, religion and, more recently, sexual orientation. Although support for the Commission has varied with changes in presidential administrations, the Commission has continued to play a role in building an equal America. Online access to the commission's historical records provides an opportunity to examine the efforts of the Commission more closely.

The Civil Rights Digital Library received support from a National Leadership Grant for Libraries awarded to the University of Georgia by the Institute of Museum and Library Services for the aggregation and enhancement of partner metadata.
