Description: | Encyclopedia article about the National Democratic Party of Alabama (NDPA) which was formed in 1968 to provide blacks with an alternative to the state's white-controlled Democratic Party. Although it failed to make significant headway in statewide campaigns, the party did have some local success and provided many African Americans with their first experience in politics. The Civil Rights Digital Library received support from a National Leadership Grant for Libraries awarded to the University of Georgia by the Institute of Museum and Library Services for the aggregation and enhancement of partner metadata. |
