Title:Missouri Laws on the Education of African-Americans
Date:1938-2007
Description:

Due to the importance of this case in Missouri and nationally, it is not surprising that many articles have been written about Lloyd Gaines and his case. This project does not attempt to provide an exhaustive listing of such resources. Instead, we have selected material that provides a unique perspective on this case. Newspaper articles from the Columbia Missourian, a student-published city newspaper, give the students' perspective of the integration of the University of Missouri. Also included are two excellent doctoral dissertations from students at the University of Missouri written during various points in history; Brigham's covers the topic of African-American education in Missouri up to 1944 and Sawyer's focuses on the effect the Lloyd Gaines case had on education.

The Civil Rights Digital Library received support from a National Leadership Grant for Libraries awarded to the University of Georgia by the Institute of Museum and Library Services for the aggregation and enhancement of partner metadata.
