Letter from Associate Justice Stephen Johnson Field to Chief Justice Salmon P. Chase, dated June 30, 1866, expressing his support for the passing of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution. The Fourteenth Amendment gave citizenship to African Americans and guaranteed equal protection for all citizens under the law.

The Civil Rights Digital Library received support from a National Leadership Grant for Libraries awarded to the University of Georgia by the Institute of Museum and Library Services for the aggregation and enhancement of partner metadata.
