Encyclopedia article about Charles Weltner who was a moderate and respected leader in Georgia law and politics. As a U.S. congressman, he was an outspoken opponent of segregation. Weltner also served as an associate justice of the Supreme Court of Georgia. He attended Oglethorpe University in Atlanta and Columbia University in New York City.

The Civil Rights Digital Library received support from a National Leadership Grant for Libraries awarded to the University of Georgia by the Institute of Museum and Library Services for the aggregation and enhancement of partner metadata.
