Web site for the Stanford University-based Martin Luther King, Jr., Research and Education Institute which works in cooperation with the Martin Luther King, Jr. family to publish and preserve the speeches, writings, and correspondence of Martin Luther King. The site contains: information about five published volumes of King's papers, four of which have a chronology of the time period covered by the volume; background about the project which began in 1985 when Coretta Scott King asked Clayborne Carson to edit and publish the papers; information about purchasing published volumes of speeches, sermons, articles, and King's autobiography; a biography of King; an online-only encyclopedia with information about major events, people, and influences in King's life; links to audio files of selected sermons, speeches, and King's autobiography; an inventory of major sermons, speeches, public statements, published writings, manuscripts and some notes and outlines providing information on the archival location of the original as well as the full text of previously published items; seven lesson plans focusing on teaching King to high school students; and information about public programs held at the Institute.

The Civil Rights Digital Library received support from a National Leadership Grant for Libraries awarded to the University of Georgia by the Institute of Museum and Library Services for the aggregation and enhancement of partner metadata.
