| Description: | Annual report from 1942 of expenses for the Clarendon County Citizens Committee, a civil rights organization working for the betterment of all African Americans in every walk of life. The report includes payment to the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) for dues and a charer and to the Sumter Branch of the NAACP for the Teachers' Defense Fund. It also lists as committee officers W. M. Thompson, Joseph A. DeLaine, Sr., and G. B. Burges, but omits names of contributors as part of a World War II effort to conserve paper. Handwritten calculations are included on the front and back of the report. The Civil Rights Digital Library received support from a National Leadership Grant for Libraries awarded to the University of Georgia by the Institute of Museum and Library Services for the aggregation and enhancement of partner metadata. |
