Speech made by Joseph A. DeLaine, Sr., in Schenectady, New York, outlining the history of racial prejudice against African Americans, local efforts to right this wrong, such as the Clarendon County, South Caroina case, also known as Briggs v. Elliott, and the rise of terror groups, such as the White Citizens Council and the Ku Klux Klan to prevent desegregation.

The Civil Rights Digital Library received support from a National Leadership Grant for Libraries awarded to the University of Georgia by the Institute of Museum and Library Services for the aggregation and enhancement of partner metadata.
