Letter from Joseph A. DeLaine, Sr., of New York, New York, to the Clarendon County, South Carolina branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, (NAACP) based in Summerton, South Carolina, informing members that he is safe in New York. DeLaine praises the members of the NAACP for their tenacity to withstand the terror tactics of the White Citizens' Council to defeat inequality.

The Civil Rights Digital Library received support from a National Leadership Grant for Libraries awarded to the University of Georgia by the Institute of Museum and Library Services for the aggregation and enhancement of partner metadata.
