DeLaine, Sr., of Brooklyn, New York to New York City Police Department informing the department that DeLaine's good conduct report might also include the background and outcome of the charge against DeLaine from Florence County, South Carolina. The case was dismissed in a New York court on March 16, 1956 after which the United States Department of Justice refrained from prosecuting and South Carolina Governor George Bell Timmerman did not press further charges. The Civil Rights Digital Library received support from a National Leadership Grant for Libraries awarded to the University of Georgia by the Institute of Museum and Library Services for the aggregation and enhancement of partner metadata. |
