| Description: | Letter from E. E. Richburg of Summerton, South Carolina to Joseph A. DeLaine, Sr. of Buffalo, New York regarding an October 22, 1956 lawsuit to contest the constitutionality of South Carolina law to prohibit hiring members of the South Carolina branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). Richburg notes that schools in Clarendon County, South Carolina, are still segregated and that tampering with the mail has ended. In a handwritten note, Richburg mentions that Reverend James W. Seals' home was destroyed by fire while he was away. A list of contributors to the Liberty Hill African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E.) Church in Summerton, South Carolina is included, as is the envelope.
