Description: | Material documenting the Allen-White High School in Whiteville, Tennessee from 1929 to 1949. This African-American school was built with help from the Rosenwald Fund. The Rosenwald Fund was established by Julius Rosenwald, CEO of Sears Roebuck Co., to provide money for the construction of African-American schools. The University of Tennessee Libraries (Knoxville, Tennessee) is the digital publisher. The Civil Rights Digital Library received support from a National Leadership Grant for Libraries awarded to the University of Georgia by the Institute of Museum and Library Services for the aggregation and enhancement of partner metadata. |
