Black-and-white photograph from 1960 of civil rights demonstrators and white segregationists protesting on Main Street in Memphis, Tennessee. The primarily African American demonstrators carry signs calling for "Education and jobs now" while the white segregationists carry signs asking "How many of these Negroes have illegitimate 'child's' and collect welfare checks?" A white policeman stands between the two demonstrations.
