The party was held at the Alexandria Hotel in Los Angeles on Apr. 24, 1960. Margolis was a civil rights attorney whose clients included the defendants in the Sleepy Lagoon murder trial and the Hollywood Ten. Margolis also was Bass' attorney.

The Civil Rights Digital Library received support from a National Leadership Grant for Libraries awarded to the University of Georgia by the Institute of Museum and Library Services for the aggregation and enhancement of partner metadata.
