Description: | Teacher, Charles Maxey, with his students in a class photo. Maxey, presides over an all African American classroom. Charles Maxey was also an established businessman, a member of the Albina Neighborhood Council and an active participant in Portland's African American community. The Civil Rights Digital Library received support from a National Leadership Grant for Libraries awarded to the University of Georgia by the Institute of Museum and Library Services for the aggregation and enhancement of partner metadata. |
