Description: | Willis Andrew Williams, a teacher and vice president at a Portland school was one of ten African American teachers in Portland during the early 1950's. Williams was an active member of the NAACP, an Urban League supporter and the Regional Director of Grade School Teachers of the Oregon Education Association. Williams helps a young white student. An African American student is present in the front row. An Urban League photo. The Civil Rights Digital Library received support from a National Leadership Grant for Libraries awarded to the University of Georgia by the Institute of Museum and Library Services for the aggregation and enhancement of partner metadata. |
