Title: | General Superintendent of Housing Authority Quits Over Firing, August 10, 1955 |
Date: | 1955 |
Description: | An article concerning the resignation of Portland housing authority's General Superintendent, Harry D. Jaeger over the firing of Floyd S. Ratchford, Executive Director of the Housing Authority of Portland. The firing of Ratchford, followed by the resignation of several other staff members of the housing authorities, is a result of infighting between the executive director and board members concerning a lack of policy in the operations of the public housing agency. The article reports the accusations that board members are "out to destroy public housing in Portland." The Civil Rights Digital Library received support from a National Leadership Grant for Libraries awarded to the University of Georgia by the Institute of Museum and Library Services for the aggregation and enhancement of partner metadata. |
