Individuals unable to buy homes because of the color of skin. Article comments on how wrong system is . "Racial Integration Given Support of Congressional Church Through Action," Edwin Berry, executive secretary of Portland Urban League and professor at Vanport College compares United States race relations with those of Hilter's Nazi Germany. Berry compares the two's laws and codes against various ethnic groups. Berry also states that slavery and racism trace back to early Christianity. Dr. Galen Weaver addresses the only way to live in an integrated society is total acceptance. Dr. Weaver also states that interracial marriage was the next step for a integrated society. The end result of the conference was support of the Fair Employment Practice Bill. "Race Prejudice" examines the differences between what one learns in Sunday School about Jesus and the messages received by society. Society deines housing for Blacks while embracing Bookie T. Washington, DuBois and countless other Blacks. During the floods (Vanport) people were concerned with those that lost everything but that is no longer the case. "Conference to Work for Racial Integration Set by Congregational Church" Dr. Galen Weaver announces that Congregational Church was to hold a conference. Conference to be held between 2 P.M. and 9 P.M. at the First Congressional Church. Lists speakers: Lester B. Granger, Edwin Berry, Mark A. Smith, Brazola Reddick, Rev. Daniel A. Taylor, and Rev. Wade L. Carter. The Civil Rights Digital Library received support from a National Leadership Grant for Libraries awarded to the University of Georgia by the Institute of Museum and Library Services for the aggregation and enhancement of partner metadata. |
