Burson, Robert Harold, 1910-2001
Biography:
Robert Harold Burson was commanding Officer of the Georgia State Patrol from February 20, 1959 to November 1, 1961 when he became a lieutenant colonel and deputy director. From November 1, 1963 to January 18, 1967, he served as director of the Georgia Department of Corrections, Nov. 1. He was appointed director of the Department of Public Safety on January 24, 1967 and held the position through 1972. He died in Villa Rica, Georgia on December 9, 2001.
