Faulk, John Henry
Biography:
John Henry Faulk was born in Austin, Texas on April 21, 1913. Faulk attended University of Texas and completed his master's thesis using ten sermons from African American ministers. Faulk went on to become a radio and television broadcaster until, in 1957, he was blacklisted for alleged Communist associations. With the support of Edward R. Murrow, Faulk won a libel suit against the AWARE, Inc. in 1962. He chronicled his experience of being blacklisted the following year when he published Fear and Trial. Faulk died of cancer in 1990 in Austin.
