Gaither, Thomas Walter, 1938-
Biography:
Civil rights worker raised in Great Falls, South Carolina who worked as a field organizer for CORE during the 1961 Freedom Rides. Gaither received his B.S. from Claflin University; his M.S. from Atlanta University; and his Ph. D. from the University of Iowa. Gaither became a biology professor specializing in botany, and taught at Slippery Rock University for thirty years until his retirement in 2007.
