Goodman, Ernest, 1906-1997
Biography:
Born in Hemlock, Michigan on August 21, 1906, Ernest Goodman graduated from Wayne State College in 1928. After being admitted to the State Bar of Michigan, Goodman gained recognition for his work with labor issues, most notably his time as a member of the general counsel for UAW. In addition to making a name for himself in labor law, Goodman worked on several high profile civil rights cases in the state of Michigan, including the Michigan Smith Act trial, Sherrill School desegregation case and Black Panther trial. Goodman was a founding member of the National Lawyers Guild and served as the organization's first president from 1963 to 1966.
