Grier, J. D.
Biography:
Grier was a former member of the Georgia House of Representatives. He was a former national board member of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) and worked closely with the Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr. A nonviolent protestor during the civil rights movement, he organized protests and was arrested during lunch counter sit-ins. He served as a member of the Georgia House of Representatives from 1965 to 1968 and also served as chairman of the Atlanta personnel board and later as a member of the Atlanta civil service board. -- House Resolution 1085, Georgia House of Representatives WWW site.
