Hansen, William
Biography:
Born in 1939, William Walter Hansen, Jr. was a White SNCC worker who arrived in Albany, Georgia in July 1962. At one time, he was the only white SNCC project director (Arkansas). As a twenty-one year old Xavier University student, Hansen rode a Trailways bus from Montgomery, Alabama to Jackson, Mississippi as part of a July 7, 1961 Freedom Ride. He married Ruth Buffington, a fellow SNCC worker, in October 1963.
