Hurley, Ruby

Biography:

Ruby Hurley (November 7, 1909 - August 9, 1980), civil rights activist and NAACP administrator, directed the NAACP's youth councils from 1943 to 1952. In 1952 after working on membership efforts in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, and Tennessee, Hurley became the organization's first southeast regional director. She retired from the NAACP on March 31, 1978 and died in 1980 in Atlanta, Georgia.
