Kennedy, Florynce, 1916-2000
Biography:
In her law practice, Kennedy handled the estates of jazz performers Billie Holiday and Charlie Parker. Kennedy was much better known, however, for her political and social activism, leading protests against Richard Nixon, the Miss America Pageant, the New York Times, and the Roman Catholic Church. Flo Kennedy wasn't the first black woman to graduate from Columbia Law School (Elreda Alexander, class of 1945, was the first), but she was one of the most outspoken and media-savvy graduates. -- Diamond Law Library, Columbia University Law School WWW site.
