Malone, Van J.
Biography:
Reverend Van J. Malone, Sr., native of Enterprise, Mississippi and pastor since 1934, was arrested in Macon, Georgia, on Saturday, Feb. 9, 1962 along with three other ministers (Evans, Paschal, Malone) for refusing to move to the back of the bus, sparking a bus boycott in Macon which eventually led to the system's integration. At the time he was pastor of First African.
