Biography:
H. M. Michaux's involvement in grassroots engagement with local Durham, North Carolina politics helped him get elected to the state House of Representatives in 1972. In 1977 he became the first African American United States Attorney in the South since Reconstruction when he was appointed to the office.--From Oral Histories of the American South biography.
