Morgan, Irene

Biography:

Petitioner in Morgan v. Virginia, in which the Supreme Court ruled that interstate travel could not be segregated. In the spring of 1946, African American Baltimore resident, Irene Morgan refused to sit in the rear of a bus traveling from Virginia to Baltimore. She refused to obey Virginia's segregated busing law as she was traveling over state lines.
