Biography:

"Rachel West Nelson was born Rachel West. She grew up in Selma, Alabama with parents who supported and participated in the voting rights campaign in Selma. Nelson is the co-author of Selma, Lord, Selma recollections of the Selma marches as told to Frank Sikora. Selma, Lord, Selma was later made into a film which aired on "The Wonderful World of Disney" in 1999...Rachel West Nelson was nine years old when Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. came to Selma in 1965. Her parents were ardent supporters of Civil Rights activists, housing many in their home during the Selma marches.
