Biography:
Originally from Oceanside, New York, Kenneth Martin Shilman was eighteen years old when he was arrested in Jackson, Mississippi for his participation in a Freedom Ride. As part of the Freedom Ride, Shilman took a bus from Montgomery, Alabama to Jackson, Mississippi where he was arrested, along with thirteen others, at the Trailways terminal on 2 June 1961.
