Sibley, John A. (John Adams), 1888-1986
Biography:
Lawyer, one-time president of the University of Georgia Alumni Association, and chairman of the Board, Trust Company of Georgia, Atlanta, Sibley was chosen by Governor Ernest Vandiver to lead the Georgia Committee on Schools (known commonly as the Sibley Commission). Sibley, a segregationist, and the committee held ten hearings across Georgia during March of 1960.
