Smith, Woollcott, 1941-

Biography:

Woollcott Smith was a student at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan when he was arrested for his participation in the Freedom Rides during the summer of 1961. As part of the Freedom Ride, Smith, along with nine others, took a Greyhound bus from Nashville, Tennessee to Jackson, Mississippi where he was arrested on 29 July 1961. Smith went on to later become a professor of statistics at Temple University and co-authored The Cartoon Guide to Statistics with Larry Gonick.
