Whatley, Andrew A., 1941-1965
Biography:
A 21-year-old white Americus, Georgia resident who was shot and killed 28 July 1965 by Eddie James Lamar and Charlie Lee Hopkins. Whatley, who had joined the Marines the week before, was on his way home from working at the movie theater and happened to be on a corner where white young men had been throwing rocks at African Americans.
