Wheeler, John H. (John Hervey)
Biography:
John Hervey Wheeler began working for Mechanics and Farmers Bank, an African American business in Durham, North Carolina, in 1929. He became president of the bank in 1952. He also was an official in the state Democratic Party and in 1964 was North Carolina's first African American delegate to a Democratic national convention.--From St. Petersburg Times, July 8, 1978
