Section of online exhibit outlining public education in Virginia, which was established with segregated schools during Reconstruction. The page includes twelve black-and-white photographs of African American schools and students contributed by the Virginia Historical Society, the Valentine Richmond History Center, the Library of Congress, and the Virginia Department of Historic Resources.

The Civil Rights Digital Library received support from a National Leadership Grant for Libraries awarded to the University of Georgia by the Institute of Museum and Library Services for the aggregation and enhancement of partner metadata.
